Maestro Dan Ryan is a conductor, composer and artistic leader known for his imaginative vision, theatrical flair, and musical precision.

A native of Boston, Dan has conducted hundreds of concerts, operas, and musicals, and was a two-time finalist for the American Prize. He is known for galvanizing artists and communities through meaningful collaborations with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Lyric Opera, White Snake Projects, the City of Boston, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.*

Dan made his Off Broadway debut composing music for Breaking The Story at Second Stage, now published and available for licensing under the title ’Til Death through Concord Theatricals, with his frequent collaborator (and real-life partner) playwright Alexis Scheer. Their current projects in development include Christina, a play with choral music, and Brimfield, a new musical set at the iconic antique market.

Dan has an extensive teaching background, and his students are represented on Broadway, national tours, in concert halls, and at every major college and conservatory program. He currently serves as Conductor and Music Director at Interlochen Arts Camp.

As Co-Founder of The Gena Branscombe project, Dan also dedicates his time to the recovery and digitization of lost musical works by early twentieth century women composers in addition to supporting emerging conductors, composers, and art administrators through scholarships.

Dan holds a MM from The Boston Conservatory and BA from Catawba College. He lives in Brookline with his playwright wife and their mini aussie Sagan.
